Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto Anime Review

Is he cool or is he weird?  Is he attractive or just average?  Is he a human or is he an alien?  This is Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto.


Sakamoto follows a protagonist simply known as Sakamoto.  He's charismatic, good-looking, and honestly...kind of weird.  He's always doing weird stuff, but it always pans out.  Not one to waste time, everything he does has a purpose, even when it's not immediately evident what that purpose is.

Naturally, the girls love Sakamoto.  The guys start off resistant to his charms, but eventually he wins them over, too.  Simply put, he's irresistible.

He has quite a rogue's gallery.  From a high school aged yakuza, the stalker girl, to the school delinquent, to someone who probably graduated from school ten years ago, there are a number of quirky characters for him to interact with.  Most of the time, he kills them with kindness and kills the audience with humor.

Some of the classmates are...disturbing.

One question you may have is whether or not Sakamoto is a human being or an alien.  All throughout the anime and especially in the second half, he exhibits a lot of qualities to make it hard to tell.  These qualities feel stronger in the manga, but they still show in the anime.  It's been a while since I've read the manga, so I don't know where the deviations are if there are any, but it hits all the big spots.  One of those big spots kinda looked like trash (you'll know it when you see it), but at least it's there.

On a side note, that intro goes hard.  J-rock at its finest with zoom-ins on Sakamoto doing various things.  It gets you ready to watch anime, like any good intro should do.

Sakamoto is an alright anime.  Two parts comedy, one part drama, and a sprinkle of mystery make for quite an edible show.  Check It Out.

Tan, blonde, scantily-clad, and obsessed with meat.  These things all describe Food Wars' Ikumi Mito...or Nikumi as she's called in the manga...or Meat-Meat as the anime calls her.  No matter what you call her, she's the same girl. Anime Hotties: Yaeko Minegasaki

Do you like young professional women?  Do you like women with purple hair?  Do you like Food Wars, but can't find an adult female to drool over?  Well, guess what?  She exists.  Her name is Yaeko Minegasaki. Yaeko Minegasaki isn't that hard to miss.  She's the first REAL threat Soma Yukihira faces in his quest to become a top-class chef.  She an urban planner and, as such, she's the devil. Soma is not impressed. She's a cool, mature woman.  She knows she's sexy and she's not afraid to use what she's got to get what she wants. A confident Minegasaki attempting to turn on the charm. She does lose her cool from time to time.  For example, she gets scared of buckets and plates of food for no good reason. It's like she's looking at a bucket full of death. Anime Cuties: The Girls Of Himouto! Umaru-chan

Himouto! Umaru-chan is an okay anime series with a decent amount of laugh and wacky characters.  Heck, some of them are even kind of cute.  In particular, you have the hot best friend, the creepy admirer, and the overconfident rival.  Respectively, Nina Ebina, Kirie Motoba, and Sylphynford Tachibana. Umaru and friends enjoy a day at the beach. Nana Ebina is the hot best friend.  She's content to live in Umaru's shadow and tries not to draw attention to herself.  She's a hick trying (successfully) to hide her country accent.  One trying she can't hide, however, is her DOA-caliber chest.  Her head tends to smoke when she's nervous, particularly when she's around Taihei. Nana's head smokes a lot... ...and please don't let her get near Taihei. Nana hides her accent well...until she eats good food. The difference between Nana and the others isn't hard to see here.
