Komi Can't Communicate Review.

What do you get when you take a lame guy and partner him up with a girl who can't talk?  A cute manga.  This is Komi Can't Communicate.

Komi Can't Communicate follows protagonist and average high school student, Hitohito Tadano.  His life changes, for better or worse, when he meets Shoko Komi.  On the surface, Komi appears to be an elegant high school princess who's so cool she doesn't need to talk.  Tadano quickly finds out that she is just so cripplingly shy that she can't bring herself to talk, hence the title.

Not quite sure why our protagonist has a flower in his hair.

Komi may appear to be cool...

...but this is the reality of her situation.
Komi actually CAN communicate, though.  Having a conversation by writing on the blackboard, Tadano finds that Komi's goal in high school is to make 100 friends.  Tadano decides to help her meet this goal, becoming her first friend.  And thus the hilarity begins.

Potential friends include traps...

...S/M weirdos...

...and bi-polar crazy bitches, among others.
As you can see, the series is filled with quirky characters, none more so than Komi herself.  As stated before, she is deathly afraid of talking to other people.  Obviously, this leads to hilarious misunderstandings.  More often than not, people are scared of her because of it.

Because Komi can't speak too well...

...people tend to fill in the gaps with weird stuff.

When Komi walks around like this, she shouldn't be surprised when people...

...react like this.
And when she tries to talk, it's so pathetic it's funny.  Also, she usually has the cutest expression on her face, one where she has wide eyes and no mouth.  It makes her look cute like a mouse.

Mouthless Komi is just the cutest.
Komi may not be able to talk, but she will make you laugh.  Whether you can relate to Komi's struggle or like laughing at people like her, you'll get a kick out of this manga.  It's pretty cute.  Check it out.
