Gabriel Dropout Review
Gabriel. One of God's top women. But what if she was a teenaged manga girl instead? Yeah... It's Gabriel Dropout.
Gabriel Dropout is about...Gabriel, duh? If only it were that simple. Before descending to Earth, Gabriel was a promising young angel, destined for greatness. Then, she went to Earth and corrupted by human luxuries. Now she's content to stay at home wearing no bottoms, playing videogames and scratching her ass.
Of course, she has a best friend called Vignette who won't let her do that. She always complains about how lazy Gabriel and how she's a failure as an angel. The catch is (you knew it was coming) that Vignette is a demon. Yes, you read right. A demon is trying to teach an angel how to be more angelic. To paraphrase a line Gabriel said, Vignette is a demon who's not demonic.
Gabriel also has two more "friends". There's Raphael (not the Ninja Turtle) who is a mischief-maker and fellow angel. Then, there is...(wait for it)...Satanya, a girl who aspires to be the Devil. So what you have here is a manga where a good-for-nothing angel is friends with a knucklehead prankster, a straight-arrow demon, and a girl who wants to be THE DEVIL. Yeah...
Based on what you've read so far, it's easy to deduce that Gabriel Dropout is comedy. A great deal of that comedy comes from Satanya. Every time she shows up, she fails horribly or gets her ass kicked in some way. Also, she's so ridiculously stupid, it hurts to watch. Just read the chapter where she buys a gun that makes people laugh and see what I mean.
Overall, the story is nothing you haven't seen or read. It's just cute girls doing dumb stuff. For instance, Gabriel almost started an apocalypse because she screw up and just teleported her panties to school when she meant to teleport her whole body. In a another chapter, Vignette destroys Gabriel's apartment just to kill ONE cockroach (which is censored out for some reason). Then, there's everything Satanya does. It's usually so dumb, its funny.
In the end, Gabriel Dropout is a typical comedy manga. Cute girls, overkill solutions to problems, a trip to the beach, etc. Being typical or average isn't a bad thing. You should laugh plenty throughout. Check it out.
