12 Beast Review

Ninjas, monster girls, videogames, and warfare.  Oh, and fanservice.  That's 12 Beast in a nutshell.  Let's dive in for a deeper look.

The protgonist, Eita Touga, is a horny ninja otaku.  In other words, an average teenage boy in manga.  Life was pretty crappy for him, until he got sucked into a world called the Reverse.  Now it's up to him to save the Reserve from the clutches of his older brother.

12 Beast is like a kind of like a harem manga, featuring a number of attractive...humanoids females to drool over.  Harpies, minotaurs, mermaids, and squids, among other creatures have a big-breasted female representative in this manga.  As you might expect, these females wind up topless or totally nude sooner or later.  Will Eita get with one of these humanoids?  Probably.

The enemy is filled with powerful things like mechs, robots, and fishermen.  Yep.  Fishermen.  Heaven forbid you be a merperson.  You'll have no chance to beat a single fisherman.

12 Beast does have some decent action and humor.  Read as Eita mobilizes the "Monster Tribe of the Week" to strategically take out big brother's forces.  Strategy is key as big brother's forces are to strong to defeat in a straight fight.

Now, we get to the part that every harem manga has to get right; the women.  They're attractive...until you see their entire bodies.  For example, the harpies are cute...as long as you don't look at their hands (which are wings) and their feet (which resemble talons or claws).  Oh, well.  It is a fantasy world are Eita likes them.  Let's just pray he doesn't have a female dog for a pet.

Overall, 12 Beast is a manga that's does a lot right.  It creates a neat world, features some decent action, and can generate a few laughs.  As long as you come in not expecting to drool over the girls, you can expect a solid read.  Not binge-worthy, but highly readable.  Check it out.
