Akame Ga Kill Anime Review
At least, a review of the mighty Akame Ga Kill. It's supposedly a new kind of anime, but how much different is it really? Let's find out together.
Akame Ga Kill main claim is that any character can die at anytime, so no one is safe. To an extent, this is true. Your favorites likely WILL die. The most impactful death has to be when the first major character dies. It was a surprise, not just because the character actually died but how early in the show it happened. She didn't die fighting heroically in the final battle, but very early in the series. When characters die, they don't come back as spirits or any of that other weird crap. They really die.
Speaking of death, this is a violent anime. It may look like a normal, teeny-bopper anime, but stuff gets pretty gritty in a hurry. Tatsumi (the main character) sets out on a journal with two friends at the beginning of the anime. They get separated and once reunite, Tatsumi discovers they'd been slaughtered by aristocrats. Tatsumi (and the viewing audience) learn that this is a messed up, violent world.
The music is awesome. The opening theme song get you ready for all the carnage you're going to see. Kinpaku (Google it) is like sex for your ears. You know it's time for an ass is going to get whupped when you hear it.
All is not good with this anime, however. The final battle is total bullcrap. No spoilers here, but anyone has seen it would know. Also, some characters live to long or not long enough. Once again, it won't be spoiled here, but you'll know who is being talked about when you see it. Then, there are so many major deaths that they eventually start to sting less as the series goes on.
Speaking of seeing it, it's time for the final word. Should you see it? Heck yes. There are some logic lapses here and there, the deaths start to mean nothing over time, and the final battle is BS, but none of that breaks the series. You'll deal with all that because the anime as a whole is very good. Miss this one and you'll be missing a gem. This one is recommended.
