Well, it's happened.  Kakegurui has a spinoff/prequel.  Even better, it stars an intriguing character.  This is Kakegurui Twin. Kakegurui Twin is, as mentioned before, a prequel to the main series.  That means we get to see the state of the school before Yumeko comes in and screws with the student council.  Yep, Yumeko isn't the main character.  Instead, it's the other main girl, Mary Saotome.  So we're already off to a good start. Sigh...Mary... So, what does Ms. Mary do.  Gamble.  What else?  Prequel or not, it's still Kakegurui.  Mary takes her lumps, gets her revenge, makes friends, and looks hot doing it. The main series has taught us that asshole can look innocent. Mary suffers the agony of "defeet". Who is she?  Read and find out. Kakegurui Twin looks interesting.  Mary is my favorite character, so it's nice to see her branch out.  I look forward to seeing what kind of assholes she...

Kakegurui is a fun manga series that follows Yumeko Jabami and company as the gamble their way to the top of the school food chain.  There are lots of laughs to be had, particularly in issue 7. For example, Yumeko's happy smile is something that always makes me laugh.  It's different from her other types of smiles.  It is present and accounted for here. Happy Yumeko always makes me laugh. Of course it can be funny when Yumeko isn't smiling.  There just something about Midari that brings out the worst in her. Good thing Yumeko isn't a violent person. Maybe it's just me, but Midari crying had me dying. Am I wrong for liking this. Midari's not alone in shedding tears, as this issue's main antagonist starts crying as well, much to the surprise of Yumeko and Midari.  It's okay, though.  The rotten bitch deserves it. My Hero Academia.  A pretty good manga and an equally good anime.  It has action, drama, and of course, laughs.  When it comes to humorous moments, nothing stands out more than this: Granted, there is funnier stuff in the series, but this makes me laugh every time I see it.  It's Yaoyorozu's expression.  That makes the whole scene.  Here's a closer look: It was probably just an excuse to get the girls in cheerleading uniforms, but is that really a bad thing.  Notice how Yaoyorozu is the only one not paralyzed with embarrassment.  I don't know why, though.  They look cute.  Also, look how much bigger Yaoyorozu is than the other girls. Three cheers for cheerleading uniforms.

Do you like your women Latin, spicy, and a little dangerous?  Do you like a woman who can ride the heck out of a scooter?  How about a woman who knows how to handle a gun?  Then Michiko of Michiko & Hatchin is your woman. Michiko is one half of the titular duo of the anime Michiko & Hatchin.  She's the adult of the two, though she doesn't always act like it.  It seems like she never been to school, because she's street smart and book stupid.  But she's more than just some dumb bombshell.  She's a girl with a past. Yep, she's been to jail...and broke out. She knows how to make an entrance. There's nothing like a woman with a side of moped for breakfast. She know how to dress for any occasion.  Just don't question how she gets the clothes. She can be slutty... ...pretty... ...or whatever this is meant to be. She's not afraid of guns... This isn't the first time she's had a gun drawn on her... ...

She's a high school girl.  She's kind of hapless.  She's a destiny zealot.  It's Ringo Oginome from Penguindrum. Ringo Oginome is a cute, but odd girl.  She believes herself to be the reincarnation of her older sister born she was born on the day she died.  After stumbling upon her sister's diary, she tries to continue her sister's plan which leads her down a path filled with disturbing event.  First, she stalks a grown man, eventually trying to date-rape him.  Then, she tries to keep that same grown man from raping her only to eventually be raped by his wife.  She's had one heck of a life. Ringo has led quite a stressful life. This scene is more disturbing than it seems. About the be raped by a full grown woman. She's had to survive to humiliation of spilling her curry... Fail! ...singing in public for no reason... FAIL! ...and heartbreak. Someone's tires are getting slashed tonight. She's not a mornin...

Four penguins.  Two high school boys.  One female stalker.  One female stage actress. One slingshot.  An uncountable amount of WTF?  What do they all have in common?  This anime.  It's Penguindrum. Penguindrum is a bizarre and tragic anime.  There's a lot going on and you won't be able to piece anything together early on.  A girl drops dead, penguins stalk teenagers, and the girl comes back to life after putting on a hat that looks like a penguin.  Then, you have another teenager stalking a teacher, who herself is being stalked by the teenagers using the penguins that were stalking them before to help.  Indeed, you will be saying WTF until later in the first half of the series. WTF is this?  You'll have to watch to find out.
