Assassination Classroom Anime Review

Image
Imagine you're a middle school student middle school student in the worst class of the best school in Japan.  Now imagine that a twisted version of the Walmart mascot destroyed the moon and threatened to destroy the Earth if you couldn't kill him in a year.  Imagine further that this creature declares himself your teacher and tasks you with killing him.  Sounds like a confusing load of bunk, huh?  Welcome to Assassination Classroom. As you've may have read above, Assassination Classroom is a crazy anime that's packed with humor.  That's right.  This isn't some gritty, post-apocalyptic series.  It's a comedy, one centered in a school, judging by the title.  As mentioned before, the main character (the Walmart mascot) destroy the moon and is giving anyone a year to kill him before he destroys the Earth.  This includes, but is not limited to, the students of the middle school class he's begun teaching. Our...protagonist? So, what makes him so

Anime Hotties: Irina Jelavic

Image
She's an assassin.  She's a language teacher.  She's the only adult female in Assassination Classroom.  It's Irina Jelavic, the seductress of the series. Don't let these looks fool you. She's everything an anime female should be.  She's hot.  She's cool.  She's deadly.  She's mature...even if she doesn't always act like it. Is this how a grown woman is supposed to act? As hot as she is though, she can't resist the urge to be a bitch.  Her students don't care for this side of her. Her class isn't afraid to call her out. Being hot won't keep the class from turning on her. Her co-workers don't much care for it, either. Just casually trying to kill the class 3-E teacher in the middle of a school assembly. 180 students watched this happen.  Ha ha! But she does have the ability to chill out and get close to her students. If she were a man, this would get her labeled a pervert and thr

Anime Hotties: Fuyumi and Bell

Image
Here we are.  Not one, but two hotties from the same anime.  Viewers of Blood Lad were blessed by the sight of Fuyumi and Bell. Fuyumi and... ...Bell These two girls are very different.  The most obvious thing is that one has black hair and the other is a blonde.  A difference people may forget is that Fuyumi lives as a ghost (see that triangle on her head) while Bell is actually alive. Is it possible to kill a ghost?  Fuyumi has no interest in finding out. Also, Bell is assertive and borderline aggressive, while Fuyumi is content to be lead around and imposed upon. Bell goes for it. Fuyumi goes away from it. However, they are alike in one thing (two actually, but that would be a spoiler).  They are attractive females who may or may not be attracted to Staz.  In terms of looks, Staz has two good options.  They have two different types of bodies, though. Fuyumi is stacked, but not fat.  It's crazy and probably a little unfair. That uniform can

Blood Lad Anime Review

Image
WTF happened here?  That's all I can say about this anime.  Just...WTF?  Well, here's Blood Lad. The story follows a vampire named Staz.  He's not an ordinary vampire, though.  He's likes people and is enamored with Japanese people in particular.  Naturally, this means he's an otaku, with an extensive collection of anime, manga, and statuettes.  For him, the only thing that could be better is meeting an actual Japanese person. Staz being an otaku. His wish comes true, when a schoolgirl called Fuyumi comes stumbling from Japan into the monster world and is brought to his room by his minions.  He has a fangasm, asking her all sorts of questions.  Then, a dispute breaks out in his territory, so he goes out to solve it.  Little did he know that a monster creeped into his room as he was leaving and things...don't go well for Fuyumi. Staz having a fangasm all over Fuyumi. After settling the dispute he comes back to his room to see the monster the

Anime Hotties: Touka Kirishima

Image
Do you like badass emo ghoul chicks who look like emo dudes?  Than simply fire up Tokyo Ghoul and meet your dream girl, Touka Kirishima. Touka is queen of the cockroaches, being the best character in a series filled with lame ones.  She stands out even more so than series protagonist, Ken Kaneki.  For the record, she's fairly bland but at least she's kind of cute. Yep.  That happens sometimes. Contrary to what she puts out, she does, in fact, have emotions. She's a tough chick.  Win, lose, or draw, she'll be swinging all the way.  She'd be a good bodyguard. Don't mess with her. Touka gets in touch with the crazy bitch within But she can still be cute and girly.  Heck, she even attempts to live a normal life. Touka enjoys the company of a butterfly in her room. Touka enjoys lunch with a friends... ...and pays the price later. And that's Touka.  If you like girls who are tough, cute, and might eat you, look no fu

Tokyo Ghoul Anime Review

Image
Sometimes the anime version of a series is better than the manga version.  The manga may be truer to the intended story the writer is trying to tell, there's can't be any denying that watching the actions play out (as with anime) can be more exciting than simply looking at them (as with manga).  Tokyo Ghoul is an example of one such series. In an earlier review, I basically said Tokyo Ghoul was boring, disgusting, and overhyped.  I also said I would definitely be watching the anime.  Several entries later, here I am, having watched the anime.  So how does it stack up?  It's still disgust and overhyped, but at least it's not boring.  So what's different?  Let's dive in. Our protagonist, Ken Kaneki. This is what happens when you date from Craigslist. First, as I mentioned earlier, anime let's you actually see AND hear what's going on.  You can see Kaneki's struggle as he tries not to give into his urges and hear his inner dialogue a
